 | The departement of the Côte-d'Or is located on the dividing line where the waters of three different basins run off in different directions :
towards the Mediterranean (via the Saône and Rhône rivers), towards the Channel (via the Seine river) and the Atlantic (via the Loire river).
It presents a wide range of varied and interesting landscapes.
Most of the Côte-d'Or is at an altitude of between 180 and 650 metres above sea-level.
Its highest point however is at Ménessaire in the Morvan, which is 720 metres above sea-level.
Dijon is 227 metres above sea-level.
The climate of the Côte-d'Or is mostly temperate oceanic but there are noticeable differences in certain parts of the Côte-d'Or which have more of a semi-continental climate. There are also a number of micro-climates in the department. |
