The wine-growing slopes

The area of the wine-growing slopes extends from Dijon South through Nuits Saint Georges to Beaune and the surrounding countryside. This the area which gives its name to the department : the “côte d'or” (golden hill), and the prestigious wines grown here are known and prized throughout the world. Yet the entire area is only 50 kilometres long and no more than 600 to 3,000 metres wide !
